This website is run by me, Bethsaida Schubert, an independent artist and illustrator working as a sole proprietor. There's no company behind it — just me. This page explains what information I collect when you visit this site or buy something from me, why I collect it, and what I do with it.

Information I collect

Information you give me directly

When you place an order: your name, email address, shipping address, billing address, phone number if you provide one, and the details of what you ordered.

When you contact me or inquire about a commission: your name, email address, and whatever you choose to tell me about your project.

Information collected automatically

When you visit this site, some technical information is collected in the background, as happens on most websites: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visited, how long you stayed, and the site you came from. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies.

Payment information

I never see or store your full payment card details. When you check out, your payment is handled directly by my payment processor Stripe. They handle the card data under their own privacy policies and security standards. What I receive is confirmation that a payment went through, plus the billing name and address attached to it.

How I use your information

I use the information I collect to:

fulfill and ship your order, and contact you about it if something comes up

respond to your questions and commission inquiries

keep records I'm required to keep for tax and accounting purposes

understand which parts of the site people actually look at, so I can improve it

prevent fraud and protect the site

I don't sell your personal information, and I don't share it with anyone for their own marketing purposes.

Who I share information with

I share information only with the services I need to run this site and get your order to you:

Squarespace, which hosts this website and processes orders placed through it

My payment processor, which handles the transaction

Shipping carriers (USPS, UPS, FedEx and similar), which receive your delivery address

Fulfillment partner, which prints and ships certain orders on my behalf

Analytics providers, which receive anonymized information about site traffic

I may also disclose information if I'm legally required to — for example, in response to a valid legal request.

Cookies

This site uses cookies. Some are necessary for the site to function — keeping you logged in, remembering what's in your cart. Others help me understand how the site is used.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the site, particularly checkout, may not work properly if you do.

How long I keep your information

Order records: kept for as long as tax and accounting rules require, generally seven years.

Commission correspondence: kept for the duration of the project and a reasonable period afterward, in case questions come up later.

General inquiries: kept up to two years, then deleted.

Your rights

You can ask me to:

tell you what personal information I hold about you

correct anything that's wrong

delete your information (except records I'm legally required to keep, such as completed order and tax records)

send you a copy of your information in a portable format

Email bethsaidajake@gmail.comand I'll take care of it. I don't charge for this, and I'll respond within 30 days.

If you're in the EU or UK: you also have the right to object to or restrict how I process your data, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority if you think I've handled your information improperly.

If you're in California: you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. I don't sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law, and I won't discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

Where your information is stored

I'm based in the United States, and the services I use to run this site store data in the United States. If you're visiting from elsewhere, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US, which may have different data protection laws than your country.

Children

This site isn't directed at children under 13, and I don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given me personal information, email me and I'll delete it.

Security

I use services with standard security protections, and access to order information is limited to me. That said, no method of transmitting or storing data online is completely secure, and I can't guarantee absolute security.

Links to other sites

This site may link to other websites — a publisher's page for a book, a gallery, a social media profile. I'm not responsible for their privacy practices. Have a look at their policies before giving them your information.

Changes to this policy

If I change this policy, I'll update the date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, I'll say so more visibly. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
